For the second time, Skymedical was responsible for commercialising and installing the Mobile CAT OmniTom Elite, an equipment developed by NeuroLogica – a Samsungs’s subsidiary. This installation took place at the beginning of this year, on a boat, and was coordinated by our Field Service Engineer, responsible for the technical services and for the equipment installation.
The OmniTom Elite is a state-of-the-art digital handheld CAT, used for all cranial applications, with or without contrast, as well as for angiographic and perfusion graphics studies. The Mobile CAT contains internal lead shielding in order to minimize radiation, and the fact that it is an equipment with smaller dimensions than usual, allows it to have greater maneuverability in areas of difficult access.
The efficiency and ease of use of the OminiTom turns it into a device of unique features, namely: operating on battery mode, charging in conventional sockets, compatibility with examination tables, wireless communication with Microsoft Windows workstations and with PACS systems. It is, therefore, a device capable of providing an accurate diagnostic image in any situation.
The installation process on this vessel began with inspection of the site and of the route from the CAT to the medical room; and later, with the definition of the action and transport plan. The following day, the cargo was inspected, and the CAT was transported and unloaded by crane to the ship and then to the medical room, where all connections and the first tests were carried out. Finally, installation, parameterization, and functional tests were verified, and training was given to the medical team and maintenance engineers. The operation ended, as usual, with the completion of the last configurations and all the quality and safety tests. Another team effort with successful results.
