On the 24th and 25th of February, the 11th Cadaver Lab Skymedical – Advanced Hands-On Lower Limb Trauma Course, took place at the Anatomical Theater of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon – Hospital de Santa Maria.
It was a large-scale course, with 24 trainers and 32 students, coordinated by Dr. José Manuel Teixeira and Dr. Samuel Martins. The course consisted of three independent theoretical-practical modules – one dedicated to the Femur, one on Tibia and another on the Foot and Ankle.
In this course, there were 10 working stations and in each one there was a specimen of a cadaver of the complete lower limb. The students had the opportunity to perform nine practical exercises on the specimens, with the help of Stryker osteosynthesis systems, a partner in the organization of this course. Among the different systems used, the Gamma3 and T2 nailing systems stood out, as well as the AxSOS3 and Variax2 systems, for osteosynthesis procedures with plates and screws.
During this CadLab, there was also an opportunity for a presentation of the ADAPT Intraoperative Navigation Assistant, recently launched in national territory. The Foot and Ankle module also stood out due to the new portfolio of Wright Medical, recently integrated into Stryker, where students had the opportunity to experience the new techniques of the current Stryker product catalog in this anatomical region.
By making this course possible, Skymedical reinforces the commitment to fostering scientific evolution and development, through the sharing of knowledge and experience, always alongside the professionals who best represent it.
